A heads up to everyone. I just received a text claiming to come from the DVLA to say I was owed £61.77 in a road tax refund. It included a web address which I will not post here. I immediately became suspicious as the address started http:// and not https://, which would indicate it was a secure address.

I then proceeded to call the DVLA. The number for DVLA road tax is 0300 790 6802. If you call that number you will get a recorded message warning not to respond to any emails or texts asking you to click on a link for a refund, and to not give any personal information or bank details should you click on the link. It is definitely a scam. Please heed this message.

Great info @Bambino Thanks for posting. Like @jonsie I hadn't heard of this one slight_frown

It's a good job you were so vigilant with the web address.

Fantastic info @Bambino and one I'll warn my friends who drive about. I imagine, as I don't have a driving licence, I won't receive this text.
