It will be interesting to see the outcome of this. The challenge to the leadership was triggered by letters from 48 conservatives, this is the threshold needed to put the party to a vote.

She needs 50%+1 to remain as leader.

If she doesn't get the backing she needs. she is out and the conservatives will vote for a new leader.

They are expecting the vote to take place tonight via a secret ballot.

All of which begs the one burning question..... Brexit??

Possibly, if we went to a general election.

Currently though it's a fight for the leadership of the conservatives.

What a mess this country is in, in terms of politics.

A new leader, won't at this point, be able to change anything regarding Brexit.

I think they said it takes 8 weeks to elect a new party leader?

Theresa May is currently outside Downing Street making a speech..

If Theresa May goes, and part of me would like to see that, I think Brexit could possibly be jeopardised even further.

The problem is who would replace Theresa May. I'm not enamoured of any of the candidates amongst the Conservatives, but then I'm more a Labour follower to be totally honest.

But again not enamoured of Jeremy Corbin, to put it mildly. The thought of him as PM terrifies me.

The Liberal Drmocrats, no thanks; too airy fairy.

So, unfortunately, Theresa May is the best of a bad bunch.

As for Brexit, I wonder if it will actually take place, as we apparently now have a legal out?

I also wonder had the vote taken place today, whether the result would be the same. I think there were too many lies told on both sides which influenced the outcome. I think there would be a very different outcome, and we wouldn't today be facing the disaster that is Brexit.

Whatever I think about Theresa May (Not a lot tbh), she has been at the helm of the Brexit negotiations from the start. I can't see any new leader being able to change anything.

I think the reason for choosing today, is to create as much chaos in the Brexit discussions as possible.

So are the people who want her out... thinking of the best interests of the country or not?

By the way if she wins the leadership battle, she can't be challenged again for a year.

We don't need a new PM, we need all MPs to refuse the deal she's cooked up, direct her on a new one and help get it through.
All this has done is create a leadership race, diverting attention away from the issue at hand.

And we'll end up with another PM, we didn't vote for.. which happens with irritating regularity these days.

Any chance of another referendum on Brexit?
