I'll not make any comments, jokes or derogatory remarks as this is a serious issue which now seems like it's not isolated to just Samsung.

Is technology pushing battery capability too far?

Are manufacturers pushing the boundaries beyond a safe level ?

It's a frightening fact, but it's a BATTERY problem, so could effect absolutely anything powered by Li-Po's

And this happened in transit. It's way past time that battery technology moved forward. I find it a little disconcerting that something we pay up to around eight hundred pounds only lasts a day without charging.

That's true - when you think about what a battery goes through in terms of heat cycling and power dissipation it's no wonder they explode really.
You'd think technology was out there to make batteries hold charge for longer - but they don't seem to have found it yet!

Ideas and breakthroughs have been muted in the press. To me it seems more a case of the battery suppliers and phone makers being a closed shop, much like the search to find an alternative source of energy and oil....can't upset the oil producing countries!
