Despite it being available for the first 3 years of their lives, our "new" boys showed no interest in a litter tray, even with the old boy using it religiously @Cleoriff . There seemed no point in having it in the conservatory once he passed and it being ignored, so it is now in the shed in case of emergency.

Although it might make a resurgence once the cat flap goes back on!

There are lots of cats round our way @TallTrees

We have 2.

Next door have 4

There are another 4 that I see regularly down our end of the cul de sac, plus who knows how many roaming the cemetery at the end of the street!

I thought I  would be woken with their yowling to go out @gmarkj

Not a sound. My attitude was, use it or cross your legs!

All must have been ok as Lily slept in the conservatory last night. It was so much warmer.

Gizmo was in his usual place, on the landing carpet, by the warm airing cupboard. 😂

I've always been very strict about not feeding strays. They may be strays to us but usually belong to someone outside of our cul de sac. (I hope)

Good grief @gmarkj

That's alot of cats.

I used to hear lots of scraps in the evening.   Not so much now as there aren't that many cats living near to one another now.

Agree on feeding others @Cleoriff - we try not to, but when they sneak in it's a bit tricky!

We did have an issue once when our current ginger boy got trapped in a bedroom when we went away for a weekend and he used my daughter's washing basket as a litter tray.

So maybe when I get the cat flap installed the litter tray needs to make an appearance...

Unfortunately our boys and next doors don't see eye to eye @TallTrees . Two of theirs in particular seem to have a problem with ours, so we hear disagreements weekly.

A quick squirt with some water and they go their separate ways though!

I know what you mean @Cleoriff

They aren't strays they are wandering cats. Some love wandering around.   It's in their nature.  Once I found a collar by our side gate. It had a name on it. Cat struggled under gate to get through.  I was terrified to open and maybe find a choked cat. No all good.  Went to address and gave cat collar. Female wandering cat all ok.

@TallTrees @gmarkj

I once watched a TV programme on cats who wore a special tracking collar to check where they went at night.

The test spanned a week. It involved 10 cats whose owners were happy to take part in the research.

Amazed to see the distances they wandered.

One wandered up to 10 miles in one night!! The others ranged between 5-7 miles.

5 cats lived in urban areas, the other 5 belonged to owners who lived in rural locations

Surprisingly, the urban area cats generally walked the greatest distance.

The programme concluded by saying, 'the night time activities shown by these 10 cats is probably the reason they sleep all day when they get home'😂

@Cleoriff

That's so funny and very interesting.

True night time roaming is exhausting 😴
