My son's black cat Wispa used to very efficiently 'rag' butterflies ....... long before I could get to her. That was when I had a yard with a few potted plants in. She wasn't a hunter of birds / little creatures unlike big boy Marty who regularly gifted me shrews with gimlet eyes = quite a few I rescued before he ran off with them.

I believe it is purple vetch or tufted vetch the wonderful butterfly is pictured by. Red Admirals would be my favourite butterfly. Now albut an empty yard with table and chairs for nice weather.
