Headline: This was the UK's first mobile phone - and it weighed more than a baby.
Excerpt from the Link " It was a year which saw Live Aid raise more than £50 million, the debut of WrestleMania at Madison Square Garden, and the introduction of the Vodafone VT1 transportable – the UK’s first truly portable mobile phone."
My thoughts :
I remember using a similar one for my bosses business but I'm sure it was a Motorola. Handset on a car battery !
Loved my Nokias tho - bounced causing no damage and the battery lasted over a week - ok they didn't do what the mini computer smartphones some of us carry nowadays.
What was your earliest phone and what did you like about it ?
Source : Stuff.

I can remember the excitement of getting a Nokia that didn't have an external aerial (sorry, I'm rubbish with phone names!) and being able to play snake! My uncle actually only stopped using this one a couple of years ago!

Hi @Anonymous
Maybe the Nokia 3110 ?
I remember the 1st release of Snake and then some of the updates to mix up the Game play which has led to the now Arcade Level Games !
Some of the earlier models I used was the Nokia 8110 , known as the Martix Phone
and the Communicator.
But my favourite back then was the Nokia 6310. Bounced quite well !

That looks about right! It was like a brick compared to the phones now but I loved it!

I remember the Motorola suitcase one way back in 1990/9. More of a small briefcase with a tiny keypad on it in comparision. Bit of a surprise to see one in a supermarket at the time in a backwater area. Then again the girl who owned it had a secondary business as one of those stripper-grams (she was doing an alchohol tasting day which made it a slightly surreal discussion 🙂 ). Even more amusing it had to be next to a window as the reception was quite poor if it went indoors!

Sorry for the confusion! To clarify, my first phone was a Nokia with an aerial. The next Nokia was a 3210.
