Strictly Come Dancing 2018

It's that time of year again folks.

From Monday August 13th they will start revealing the candidates for this years show. I understand the first one will be on that nights episode of the One Show.

Many names being bandied about and people are even putting bets on them? (A bit stupid when there's been nothing official yet)

Anyway names in the mix so far

Cheryl Cole (can't see that happening)

Ashley Roberts  (former Pussycat Doll)

Lee Ryan (from Blue)

Faye Tozer (from Steps)

Les Dennis

Tom Daley

Steph Mc Govern BBC Newscaster.

Dan Walker (Sports Presenter)

Colleen Rooney (can't see that as they have just upped sticks and moved to the US for Waynes football career)

Michelle Keegan (Corrie and Our Girl)

Mark Labbett (The Beast) from The Chase.

Kate Silverstone (BBC Newsreader)

That's all I've got so far and probably half of them are wrong but hey...

What is certain , the judging panel and the presenters remain the same.

Also the guy who will replace the lovely Brendon Cole is Neil Jones. He has been on the show as a back up dancer and is married to last years winning professional Katya Jones

Yep, can't disagree with that 40 for Ashley. 

Joe isn't having a good night at all. 

Lauren was poor though unsurprisingly it was never going to be good. Curious to see what dance Joe & Lauren get in the dance-off. Lauren's Tango v Joe's AT might be close decision but all the signs from AJ & Lauren is they know they're finished. But knowing the BBC, they'll be doing the samba just to make sure they go.

Stacey was ok, but obviously she's focussed on the Charleston. That might be a problem next week when there's 3 dances to contend with. 

As for Faye: thankyou  You're getting one of my votes for that.

Faye and Giovanni.. Argentine Tango to La Cumparsita...(the right music for this dance. At last)

Well for me it was Faye and Ashley's night overall. While I didn't love Ashley's Paso, but it was good. But her American Smooth was outstanding. 

Faye I loved her Charleston and her Argentine Tango amazing. For me it was the best dance of the night. Her legs just unbelievable.

The rest:

Lauren's Samba: she just couldn't keep up with AJ and her Argentino Tango lacked passion and to be honest was boring. Faye showed how it should be done. 2 worst dances of the night.

Joe was not much better to be honest. His Viennese Waltz too bouncy and laboured to me. The Argentine Tango, fantastic routine but he didn't do it justice. 

Stacey fantastic Charleston, loved it. Brilliant show opener. But not keen on her Viennese waltz. She,'s a good dancer so I expected better and didn't see it. Loved the routine, though. She was certainly streets ahead of Lauren and Joe.

If Ashley or Faye are in the bottom 2, I'll scream so you'll all hear me wherever you are. Bottom 2 should be Lauren and Joe, and Joe was slightly, only slightly, better than Lauren. But will Lauren be in the bottom 2? She should be as she was awful.

Well we all know who SHOULD be in the dance off. Joe and Lauren

The question is though, will this be the night the viewers vote properly...?

I have a bad feeling about it!!

Don't worry, Faye & Ashley are safe by default being at the top and even getting the lowest pubic scores, they are safe. It would take a massive public vote to put Lauren on the top of the public vote points and she'd still be in the dance-off by virtue of being last on the judges score.

Worse case is that Ashley is in the dance-off due to public vote i.e. 1 point but unlikely as either Stacey or Joe would be the next candidate due to the judges scores.

Faye & Ashley were outstanding 

The samba & the American smooth are difficult dances to do

I have had one criticism of Ashley in that she is over-showy in every dance she does, but it worked excellent tonight = spot on

Faye is as good a technical dancer as with style

The girls get a vote each from me tonight

Oh, Lauren & Joe = both woeful

Lauren must go now, & Joe to go next week 

I am a trained traditional dancer in Ballroom & Latin American ... in properly governed competitions there is no such thing as 'story telling' ... just a soft smile on your face & to dance exhibiting the essence of any particular dance is sufficient, any 'over-dancing' is downmarked. However, SCD is a prime time entertainment show

So do I @Cleoriff. Will Lauren be in the bottom 2 finally. I think not.

She will be. My quick table of if Lauren gets 5 points from the public i.e. worse case scenario:

So dance-off beckons regardless for her.

Ashley will be safe ONLY IF she is in the dance off against Lauren or Joe. The judges at least will see sense.
