🌞 A month full of Summer on the O2 Community ‌🌞

Which songs make you think of Summer ?

Maybe it`s a song with Summer in the title or the lyrics

or a song about the weather - such as a song about sunshine or a heatwave

or a song about holidays - such as a song about a destination or a journey

or a song about an activity - such as sunbathing, or surfing, or walking in fresh air

or a fun record released in the summer

No matter the reason, why not share the songs that make you think of summer with us on the Communty

Two versions of the same song.

SUMMERTIME BY ELLA FITZGERALD. The second version is by THE ZOMBIES.

.

BOTH VERSIONS BEAUTIFUL BUT AS I LOVED THE ZOMBIES, THAT'S MY FAVOURITE.

(FROM PORGY AND BESS)

@Cleoriff - Something new.  I don't think I've ever seen or heard the Zombies performing that one.

@BobMI think Colin Blunstone has a beautiful voice. Seen them more than once (with other groups called 60's Touring.

So many great classics have been shared so far 😍

Gonna add three more, as it's been a while since I have contributed:

A chilled-out melody for a start:

Then, to relax even more sitting by the river or the canal:

And after all the relaxing time, gotta balance that out with some mayhem 😂. Some might say it's the best cover of the famous Eddie Cochran tune and it's in one of the arguably best live albums ever:

@RafaC

Although the Who is one of my favourite bands, I think this version (The original recorded in 1959) was better.

I guess we we will have to agree to disagree about the Summertime Blues versions @Cleoriff ‌😂‌ . To be fair, both recordings are fantastic, each with their own positive qualities. At the end of the day, I think it’s one of those that it’s more related to a matter of taste. In a list like this one, both deserved to be in 😊

@RafaC

I think that both versions are great but bearing in mind my age, the Eddie Cochran version was released first in 1959 and those of us of my age ,loved it because it was a song which just preceded the best era of music, the 60's. The Who live at Leeds was performed in 1970. (We still have a vinyl copy of this)

Also,and with great respect, you are too young to remember the  joy of teenagers who were desperate for a different type of music, then with a great boom, the 60'arrived. So yes,  we'll agree to disagree 😂
