I have recently changed from a galaxy s3 to an iPhone 5.. is it true that if you cover the line down at the bottom on the left hand side you lose some signal?

I know it was an issue with the metal sided 4/4s but the iPhone 5 sides appear to be anodised so it shouldn't affect attenuation. Least I cannot reliably create an issue on my iPhone 5.
