Who Framed Roger Rabbit is a brilliant film ... made when CGI was in its infancy ie mixing human beings with cartoons ... Bob Hoskins is excellent in the film

RIP. Richard Williams

@Anonymous

I wasn't aware there was any CGI in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

I was under the impression that every bit of cartoon was drawn by hand. One of the reasons it was so brilliant. star

You are right @Cleoriff  ... my error ... the phrase I was looking for is Special Effects

There have been cartoons with live action before but Richard Williams thought them flat

You can't get much more rounded than the voluptuous Jessica Rabbit can you ?

On BBC Midnight News there was an interview from the archive and Richard Williams spoke about what he was looking for in his drawing which was the roundness ... he was drawing to the end

Apparently the article I read (years ago) said, one of the most difficult effects Richard and the compositing team had to master, was Jessica Rabbits dress in the nightclub scene because it had flashing sequins

They acquired the effect by filtering light through a plastic bag which had been scratched with steel wool...!!!

Absolutely brilliant and the film fully deserved every award. thumbsup
