R.I.P Warren... you played the part of Alf so well....and made us laugh

Yes... Alf Garnett was a bigoted old so and so....but in those days we just laughed as we realised he was playing a caricature ....

Warren Mitchell, when interviewed, was completely different...

Quite so, the programme was aimed at showing up his outrageous views and bigotry. Very funny and no one I knew took offence....well , maybe the Scouse gits 

It's easy to forget though that he was an acclaimed actor,  stage,  film and TV. RIP.
