R.I.P. Peter Wyngarde

The actor Peter Wyngarde has died aged 90.

Wyngarde played dandy detective Jason King in the 1970s TV show Department S - which was a partial inspiration for the Austin Powers films.

He also starred in Dr Who, Flash Gordon and the Avengers.

Despite his age, his agent said he had other roles lined up to play.

I loved Department S and thought Peter Wyngarde brilliant in it. That really takes me back to my early days in England. So sad to hear he's died though he did live to a ripe old age. Amazing that at 90 he had more roles lined up.

He also appeared in Planet Of Fire, Peter Davison’s penultimate Doctor Who serial in 1984

He was quite the pin-up boy way back when. Rumour had it that he wore a trademark wig but I couldn't look at him without wondering what he was like without it. A good actor though RIP.
