Hey everyone,

Sad news from the end of last week! The Cassini probe which has been orbiting Saturn for the past 13 years finally ran out of fuel and was crashed into the planets atmosphere to avoid contaminating it's moons. The Cassini mission was a fantastic success with a massive amount of data collected from Saturn and her various moons with Enceladus, an icy moon which spews material into space from massive cracks in it's surface and Titan which is the only moon in the Solar system with a thick atmosphere and stable liquids on it's surface.

Cassini dropped to Huygens probe down to Ttian to sample the atmosphere surface of the moon and dipped in and out of Saturn's rings as part of the "Grand Finale" stage of it's mission.

There's a ton of interesting info on Cassini which you can read here. I've also dropped a couple of my favourite pictures captured by the probe below.

R.I.P Cassini!! cry

Brilliant pictures taken and what a fantastic successful mission. Sounds like Titan would be a good holiday destination. ...😉

Excellent mission. Beautiful pictures. It did a wonderful job for 13 years. Hard to comprehend the scope of it all really...

I think the fact they were able to extend the mission several times is a testament to the incredible engineering that went into the project. Amazing work!
