Yes she made no secret of her issues. Good on her!

Totally agree @jonsie, and I think her candidness made it easier for many others to address it constructively in their own lives.

Apparently the 'Prozac Urn' had pride of place in her home. Her sense of humour was actually quite inspirational. A few quotes attributed to Carrie

“There's no room for demons when you're self-possessed.”

“Instant gratification takes too long.”
" I'm very sane about how crazy I am"
“ Having waited my entire life to get an award for something, anything...I now get awards all the time for being mentally ill. It’s better than being bad at being insane, right? How tragic would it be to be runner-up for Bipolar Woman of the Year?”
There are many more...but not aiming to fill a book....Smiley Very Happy

@Well @Anonymous let me tell you you come across as far saner than people I know who have no mental health issues. God bless you.

Here's another one @Anonymous

“Look,' he said, 'I don't think we should continue this discussion. I don't like this side of you.' 'I'm not a box,' she said 'I don't have sides. This is it. One side fits all. This is it.”

I am sure she will Jane ...however she will be targeting children and young people with Mental Health issues

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-38548567

I doubt it will be enough.

The government says one in four people has a mental disorder at some point in their life, with an annual cost of £105bn.....Figures show young people are affected disproportionately with over half of mental health problems starting by the age of 14 and 75% by 18.

The number of young people affected shocked me if honest....:smileysad:

@Cleoriff ... I agree about the amount of young people affected with mental health issues = shocking Shocked ... 23 years ago I came to Skipton & was transferred from York mental health services after a 9 month divorce battle ... & the statistics were the same then Cleo' ... in the waiting room of the terrace house was a poster saying the same = 1 in 4 people will suffer with mental health issues at some point in their lives ... the town has a designated, now called Community Mental Health Team = from support workers eg taking you out for a cuppa, the cpn's Community Pysciatric Nurses to the Pysciatrists ... & ... once upon a time my mum was my official carer, but then my dear dad got ill ... = ... I was discharged, told to contact my GP & use the Samaritans when in crisis (now the Samaritans are 24/7 but they cannot give advice & do not know my history of mental health) ... Bradford has a First Response unit, I rang them but again was refused support by the CMHT by a junior person 'who had read the book' ... uneven playing field comes to mind Smiley Frustrated

What book had she read @Anonymous 'How to be As Unhelpful As Possible. Sorry I can't say what I really feel but you get my meaning I'm sure.

I know they're understaffed and underfunded but what exactly do they think the Samaritans will do. I thought the Samaritans were there for people contemplating suicide. Not as a catch-all for general mental health problems.
