Carla Lane who wrote comedies such as The Liver Birds and Bread died today age 87

She was also a great supporter of animal welfare charities

Just last year she opened the £315,000 special care unit at the Carla Lane Animals in Need Sanctuary in Melling....The charity, which took on Carla’s name in 2013, is a non-profit organisation which rescues abandoned and ill-treated animals
