I didn't have much hope for any of the South American teams in this tournament and so far not disappointed...

Well into 5 mins of extra time and a bit of a shock really. Where was the once great Brazil?

And you think the English media are bad for mentioning 1966? Brazil still live on from the 1970 win...no idea why pundits are thinking they're always favourite to win when its been obvious they're not that good for many years.

So far, no team has stood out as being impressive (Ronaldo v Spain probably best game but considering Iran has more points, that group could see one of them fail to progress) yet but lets see what happens over the next couple of days when the first round completes.

I remember Brazil as being a good football team. Certainly later than the 70's.

Tonight they were content to rest on the one goal scored. No attack or flair.

It's all a matter of personal perception though...

I am only an armchair critic after all..upside_down

Ah, we'll make you a football fan one day!

Thats just about what I thought of Brazil too for the game. Once they'd scored they had no intention of doing much else and serves them right and the Swiss played the physical game to stop them from trying (and why do Brazillians always overact when they are fouled?). Their defending of the corner that led to the Swiss goal - even with the slight push - was abysmal though.

Well I was in the crowd for the game today and the atmosphere was very lacking until Mexico scored and what a roar went up. The loudest since the landlady fell over a punters dog and showed us her knickers! Very fickle fans at my local
