Re: Poetry Corner

Both beautiful poems @Pennywren

I particularly love the Seaside. So vibrant and full of life and colours.

Re: Poetry Corner

Like both poems @Pennywren .

The seaside brings back memories of holidays and my love of the sea; and the other with references to wildlife.

Thank you for sharing them with us.

Re: Poetry Corner

Under the sea

Beneath the crystalline waters,
A hidden kingdom is found.
Follow the sand as is gently slopes down,
Passed the tendrils of seaweed.
Watch the fish dart past,
Their colours minic a rainbow.
Travel further down,
Watch the kingdom grow.
Jewel like coral reef,
Anemones sway in the currents.
The sunlight glints
On the water above.
The shafts of light picking out
Fish of all shapes and sizes.
A hammerhead shark
Lazily drifts passed.
Tiny fish swim in schools
Their silvery scales gleam.
The chatter of a pod of dolphins
A musical series of clicks.
They chase and play
Full of mischief and fun.
A crab settles along the ocean floor
Its pincers click impatiently.
The warmth of the water
Soothes the body and soul.
Let the gentle waves caress you.
Take away your pain and fear.
The waters cradle and protect
Carrying all sea life to safety.
The water looks calm,
Peaceful and safe.
Dont let it fool you
For storms can whip up suddenly.
Beware the violence of the storm
For upon those towering waves
A ghost ship may linger
Bathed in st Elmo’s fire:
The Flying Dutchman
Cursed forever more.

Re: Poetry Corner

Used to love just floating in a warm sea, mask and schnorkel, flippers too, just watching the activity on the sea floor below - your poem catches that brilliantly, @Pennywren!

Re: Poetry Corner

blossom tree

The tree heavy with such beautiful blossom,
Its heady scent a comfort.
A gentle buzz of a bumblebee,
As it alights a flower.
The pearlescent petals
Hide treasure within,
The nectar rich and beautiful.
On a backdrop of blue, blue sky
The tree seems to glow from within.
The sun lights up the blossoms
So they glow like mother of pearl.
The rich wood of the tree
Can hold a thousand secrets.
What wonders has this tree witnessed?
What future joy will it see?
The roots dig deep
Reach far beneath the soil.
A sturdy tree
Yet fragile and ephemeral.
The canopy of blossoms
Will cradle all your dreams.
Make a wish beneath her boughs
And let her take your dreams
And cast them to the stars.

Re: Poetry Corner

Thank you @Pennywren for your "Blossom Tree" poem.

I`ve got a blossom tree in front of a neighbour`s front garden and one in my back garden so can identify with what you wrote.

I really like the lines

The rich wood of the tree
Can hold a thousand secrets.
What wonders has this tree witnessed?
What future joy will it see?

Great image.

Thanks for sharing this poem with us.

Re: Poetry Corner

Thank you.

I was inspired when I saw a beautiful painting someone had created of a tree laden with blossom. It was truly breathtaking.

lone wolf

The lone wolf stands on the hill
Darkness an ebony canvas.
The moon is high,
The stars alight,
The stillness absolute.
Moonlight picks out her silvery fur
As she stands alone.
She has wandered far,
Through woods
Cross streams,
Across plains.
The wolf is searching,
Following the call,
The gentle beckoning of the heart.
She presses on,
Unsure where she should go
But trusting her heart
To take her home.
Silently she pads across the grass
Only the movement of the grass
A sign that she is there.
Her amber eyes sparkle like jewels
As she moves through the night.
Each step takes her closer:
To home,
To her pack
Where she belongs.
Never will she stop,
Til her heart says:
"This is it...
I am home.
This is where I belong"

Re: Poetry Corner

Just beautiful @Pennywren

I love wolves. One of my favourite pictures here.

A fantasy wolf which I once had as a wallpaper on my phone
