Duracell installing wireless Powermat chargers in Starbucks stores.

"Duracell and Starbucks announced today that they have reached a partnership that will see wireless chargers installed into several Starbucks stores. The chargers will use Duracell’s Powermat technology, which works with a number of devices—including iPhones."

My thoughts ;

This could help negate the need to carry around extra batteries etc.

I hope it comes to the Uk soon.

I kust say I love the sunds of thi technology, it seems like a next step slight_smile

However, I have always wondered if contactless charging would ever have any affects on health or the air around it?

An interesting thought @Toby !

I have to admit that when my iPhone has been nearly at Turning off point die to low battery ,I've visited one of the main high street electrical stores and looked like i was trying out the docking stations but instead adding a little more juice. 😞

If only all wireless chargers could settle on a standard. Crazy

Powermat is not compatible with Qi (Nokia and Nexus devices) which is not compatible with Palm's Touchstone technology.

@Toby Since they are all more or less a split transformer, the effect on the surrounding air would be similar to that from a standard wall charger.
