Headline : 'Cloud' concerns after celebrity picture leaks.

"Experts have raised concerns over the security of "cloud" storage sites following the leak of intimate pictures of celebrities.

It is understood some of the images were obtained from services such as Apple iCloud that back up content from devices on to the internet.

Apple is understood to be looking into the issue."

My thoughts :

I understand most things are not secure ,and I use Apples iCloud and DropBox. Let's see how this pans out !

Do you use cloud vaults etc ?

If you want to protect the data that is uploaded to services like iCloud or Dropboxthen it needs to be encrypted before it ever leaves your devices. Unfortunately that restricts accessibility from multiple devices so it's a trade off of convenience over security.

Haha no need to apologise, I just thought you had news that hadn't broken yet that BlackBerry 10 had actually been hacked (which it hasn't to date)!

Its the vendors of online storage in this instance that need to improve on how they protect our data and information, rather than the phone manufacturers. This isn't the first case of a vulnerability in the process of accessing users data stored in the "cloud".

It also isn;t restricted to Apple or Android devices as BlackBerry 10 also had integration with Dropbox pictures can be automatically saved to the cloud if the option is selected.

However I have done some digging on this today and it does seem that iCloud is rather easy to gain access to. I'm not going to name the process or any websites but the information is out there.

I would give you a kudos for your post if we were'nt on off-topic, but I have bookmarked your post in my efforts to learn about all things IT, thank you

Updated info from BBC news : http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-29039294

"Apple confirms accounts compromised but denies security breach"

"Apple has confirmed that some celebrities' iCloud accounts were broken into, but says it has found no evidence that this was caused by a breach of its security systems.

Instead, the firm suggests perpetrators carried out their thefts by deducing victims' log-in credentials."

I do feel sorry for these poor ladies. It must be very unpleasant at the moment for them.

It certainly is most regrettable that "intruders" have managed to access these accounts - but in the world of so-called "celebrity"  it has been said that no publicity is bad publicity.  I may be in a minority, but my personal view is if you don't want others to know your business or see your photos then it is YOUR OWN responsibility to keep them secure.
