Hi everyone,

Tomorrow I will be off as I have tickets to go see a movie in the afternoon at the Royal Albert Hall. The twist is, this movie will be accompanied by a live orchestra playing the soundtrack throughout! smiley

I saw another film with a live orchestra a few months ago, and it really makes for a magical experience. The Royal Albert Hall, amongst other venues, organises similar events for various movies regularly, and although it's a bit pricier than a simple cinema ticket, it's well worth it if it's a film with a good soundtrack.

I was wondering if any of you had been to something like this before, and how you found it? If you could have a live orchestra accompanying any film you're watching, which movie would you pick?

Looking forward to hear about your experiences and favourite movie soundtracks! music

@TallTrees & @jonsie

That's a great pic, it'd be lovely played by the Philarmonic Orchestra! smiley

Here's a sneaky and blurred-up picture of the concert I went to yesterday, no video I'm afraid, I was too focused on the movie and the orchestra. hugging

Hi @EmilieT

No problem it all started with my typo!

You didn't say whether you enjoyed the concert?

Maybe you were overwhelmed! joy

Movie Music ~

Seemed to me that the Big Orchestra's time was when there were Movie Epics 1950s ish

The Epics were sensational then.  Everyone wanting to see beautiful things and dreams of the more

wonderful after the wars ~ and the thrilling music was part of that?

I've not been to the Cinema for years, in fact I cannot even remember the last film I saw.

Watching a film with a live orchestra though does sound like it would be a brilliant experience. Need to put it on my to-do list grin

Star Wars number something....about 3 years ago on the first cinema showing. It was a complete plot rehash of the first Star Wars film.  It was rubbish to be honest and that was my last visit to the cinema. The film score was quite decent though but it would have been a much better experience with a live orchestra.
