O2 Community 2019 Advent Calendar

Hey everyone,

As Christmas is almost upon us lets focus the December movie thread on Christmas films! Before we move on how was your movie watching during November? Did you catch any of the films we discussed last month or anything else that you enjoyed?

I watched The Irishman, all be it in two parts (it's very long) and I really enjoyed it! Fantastic performances from the main cast, a great story and the de-aging technology they used was flawless!

This year lets mix things up a bit and instead of just listing our favourite movies lets think of some non traditional Christmas movies. Things that might be set at Christmas but not normally considered to be festive or just a film you and your family watch at this time of year and it feels like Christmas to you!

A few examples are Batman Returns or Iron Man 3, both set at Christmas but not the first film you think of when someone says Christmas!

Let me know your non traditional Christmas movies in the comments below!

@Cleoriff Yes The Wizard of Oz definitely has a Christmas vibe to it!

@Mi-Amigo both not traditional Christmas films but having them on at that time every year certainly makes them feel christmassy.

Great choice @TallTrees, A Christmas Carol is one of the classics.

It's funny you mentioned Lethal weapon @gmarkj, I'd never thought of it in a Christmas context but it came up during a similar discussion in the office. Love Gremlins too!

Good list @Anonymous! I've not seen Seven Brides for Seven Brothers so I'll add it to my watch list.

Gremlins and Die Hard spring to mind immediately when talking about films set at Christmas time but not Christmas films.

I tend to watch the naff christmas movies on Channel 5, Sony Movies, Christmas 24 etc rofl  Some of them are so ickly cheesy, or bad, they are good LOL

Considering watching this year's BBC adaption of A Christmas Carol with Guy Pearce & Andy Serkis etc.  It started last night I think.

Thanks

Steve

I mentioned on the Christmas TV thread about a good film I watched. I hadn't heard of it and recorded it to see what it was like.

The Limehouse Golem. Loosely based on a true story with Bill Nighy cast as the detective whose job it is to capture the serial killer.  Great film with a twist at the end.

Absolutely no idea @jonsie . So many awful films on all the channels. Also the repeated drivel we have seen over and over again!!
