How horrible. I can imagine any death is upsetting to you but when it's a child that must be particularly heart breaking.

I cannot imagine how you cope @ComaChameleon but thank God there are people like you. I owe my life to paramedics and the doctors and nurses all who treated and looked after me. Thank you for the job you do.

Hardest part was... The doctor said he knew about the other grandchild passed away.... But after he went into my ambulance with me he asked how's the other child going..... So I had to tell him - in English - that the child died. If you know you have to tell someone, you can collect the words and find a good way to tell.... But in a case like that....

That will live with you all of your life. I've been through traumatic times but I can't ever imagine being able to go through that. I'm just in total awe of the medical profession, that's doctors, nurses, support staff and the unsung heroes , specialists and technicians in so many departments and fields that you never meet.

We already thought the kid got rolled over by a car.... Now the autopsy said that too. They're searching for witnesses now. And it didnt had the seatbelt on.... Was sleeping on the lap of the grandmother. It's so important to wear the seatbelt, even it's not comfortable! -.-

I couldn't agree more. I've seen so many needless deaths in Thailand with people crowded into the backs of pickups, seat belt laws aren't enforced unless you are a felang, no Pelican crossings and up to five people on a motorcycle including children and babies. Crazy motorcycle driving in and out of cars by Thais wearing no helmets. Again the police turn a blind eye but only to Nationals. In fact very few reckless drivers going gungho down the highways wear a belt. Speed kills and drivers sometimes falling asleep at the wheel which had personal consequences for me.

As for taxi drivers and minibus drivers, well, words fail me.......!

You're right @jonsie. But just across my border in the netherlands the people don't need helmets on their scooters and bikes. In Germany you have to wear them by law - aswell as the seatbelt, it's a I think 30€ fine... Should be higher

I would wear it to protect myself, for my own security...
