I think Microsoft have re-released it with a built-in check for the type of Intel-specific component and driver that causes many of the problems.

Went up to Win10 1803 17134.320 last night, hopefully that'll help keep the October 2018 Update at bay...

Already updated unfortunately. May possibly be the reason that my Office 2016 has deleted my yahoo user profile and after spending literally hours trying to set up yahoo again no combinations of ports or user data will allow me to sign in again. The update seems to have changed the way that Outlook actually sets up user accounts now.

Does anyone know whether restoring the computer to a previous checkpoint will roll back the windows update? I'm a beta tester if that affects anything....

SSD-based systems have been proving difficult to recover.

Outlook was affected, read of a fix for that, but can't find it at the moment....

Meantime, this much help to you, @jonsie?

Thanks for the heads up @Bambino

Just passed it on to my other half who deals with PC related issues.

I haven't had a recent update yet.

I think I read somewhere that a System Restore won't help @jonsie, but take a look at this link. There are also links within the link that may help too: https://www.zdnet.com/article/windows-10-october-2018-update-how-to-get-it-how-to-avoid-it/

Edit: Also found this link, @jonsie. Maybe?: https://www.zdnet.com/article/windows-10-october-update-delete-your-files-this-tool-might-recover-th...

To be honest I have no other issues, no loss of data or pictures etc. It's just the Outlook problem though not a biggie.

Yeah unfortunately. Guess I'm waiting for the patch then. I'm scanning with Recva now but it's a long process. Might just use Thunderbird in the meantime.
