The important point is that nothing will happen, no matter what Juncker wants to happen, until the UK invokes Article 50.

This could happen this year or even next year but what can't happen is for the PM to ignore the referendum result and delay indefinitely invoking Article 50.

How that is prevented is totally unclear as no country has ever invoked Article 50.

It's all new ground for everybody.......but what is clear is that Cameron is leaving the job to his successor.

Interesting @Beenherebefore. Will admit to never hearing of this Article 50. As you say it has to be invoked at some point.....fascinating to see just when and who will do it.

Here's yet another new wrinkle to it all. This could go on forever.

That would mean an MEP of the UK member state can veto a proposal from that member state.......that's not logical Smiley Frustrated

George Osborne has just appeared on TV news giving his first statement. Very much aimed at trying to calm the markets. I actually thought it was quite a good speech even though I am not a fan of his. He spoke about Article 50 and how the UK 'could' invoke it within two years...but nothing would be done until we had a new PM in place .....
