The only thing that woul dmake that NES console better is the ability to play on cartridges, you have to make do with the 30 preloaded games. I think they should bring back cartridges, after all I spend hours hunting down vinyl, why not the same for retro games.

That did put me off buying this one but then thinking about it, do I really need more stuff to store when I can just plug in and play instantly without worry? Plus the emulators are pretty top-notch so its difficult to justify getting one (note: I have a slight addiction to buying small board computers so I really must resist and build an emulator!).

Cartridges aren't coming back though - its too expensive to produce as you can't update it once its released so those testers are far too costly when you can patch at will over the internet.

Im just old fashioned, even now I don't like paying £40 for something that floats about in the "cloud" (someone elses computer), I like something tangible I can hold, where if it doesn't work you blow the dust out, where if you lost the case it didnt matter ti doesnt scratch easily and where a Prince called Alex can win back his kingdom by playing Rock, Paper, Scissors. Oh such good sepia toned times.

Also why make more cartridges, we can get a whole vintage/retro community going where people have to drag their loved ones out searching for the 1982 copy of Altered Beast with a misprinted graphic (thats not real btw, just to illustrate my point). It worked for vinyl....

Then again we might lose it to hipsters...

I know what you mean @Anonymous. All this Pokemon business has done nothing but make me fish out my old Game Boy to have a go on slight_smile

As @viridis says, emulators are great these days. The price of the box may be a factor for me however.
