Hi guys!
Yesterday was Stress Awareness Day. Stress is normal, but sometimes it can get a bit too much, especially in a busy working environment, and we need ways to de-stress.
What are some of your methods for relaxing?
Let's also suggest some additional things for @Toby that he can do in order to relax after work, apart from his usual method which is mindlessly slaughtering some sub-terranean monster creatures (or some such things) in video games.
Some simple things that I have found helpful when I'm stressed:
Anything else you can suggest or recommend? (I might try those out too)
Lots of different relaxation methods out there I'm sure, but please keep the ideas family friendly!

Oh! @Anonymous just reminded me in another thread (thanks!) - another way to relax (especially if it's cold) is to just sit with a hot drink under a pile of duvets and just be warm after getting home from the cold outside.

headphones on with soothing music & eyes closed in a comfortable lying position on the sofa
I have a few of those dvd's eg of coastal scenery / landscape countryside with soothing music
I am a bit but it is not a secret that I have mental / physical health issues ... so ... snuggling under the duvet with the cat = just looking out of my room window & because my house is high up canalside all I see is sky scapes which I love = very relaxing = just not today with white cold sky
hanging out with a friend(s) over a beer just chatting in a bar or some-such-place or just even on the phone at home

Firstly I didn't know there was any such thing called Stress Awareness day
I suppose having worked in the constantly stressful profession of nursing you tend to accept it as part of your world. I think for me it was trying to shut off from work when at home. I couldn't do it and was constantly accused by family and friends that I brought 'my job home with me'....
Retirement from Nursing eased stress somewhat.......until I realised I missed it too much and went back.....
Now I read...watch TV, enjoy gardening, posting on community, learning new stuff and socialising.......all great stress relievers. Then of course I have my bolt hole in Spain....when it all gets too much here.....I just book a flight and go to my second home

I am happy to know that posting on here makes you feel relaxed.
Next week I will be on holiday. Nothing planned apart from relaxation! So I will be doing all the things in this list.
Oh apart from going to Spain, unfortunately I can't do that right now @Cleoriff ... but one day that will be on my list too.
Any other suggestions?

My friend runs a health and beauty salon. I often go there for a head and neck massage. So relaxing I fall asleep immediately after....

That sounds lovely Cleo' ... & ... pampering
I've fancied a back massage for a long time ... but ... never got around to it = allus more important calls on my finances
I can understand about the head & neck massage Cleo' ... having allus done office work ... shoulders hunched up, bent over a typewriter / desk = no such thing as ergonomics etc then ... my birthday is in January so maybe treat myself then

I would really recommend it Jane. Really relaxing. I can't have back massages due to 'back problems' so I go for the next best thing....:smileywink:
