Hope all my American friends, especially @Bambino, have a great day. The flags are flying here and there are many parties tonight. No fireworks I'm afraid though. I particular remember celebrating one July 4th on Venice Beach which was truly spectacular with barbecues that were absolutely delicious.

Limeys were made particularly welcome even though they were celebrating Independence from us.

The US has come a long way in the last 240 years as has the world. I wonder how different things might have been.....

Thank you @viridis. I used to have a big barbecue and fireworks in the back yard when I had my house, but I've toned it down since I've downsized. Will just have a meal out with friends tonight.
