And that says it all......if a cable could process a signal then something like that could be possible but as cables don't have processors, it's just not possible to alter the data passing through them.

True, but for the price of those cables unless you are running a signal from lands end to john o'groats it is a complete waste of money.

That depends on your definition of "a waste of money" and how much money you have in the first place.

Some people can't see the point of a Rolls Royce or a Porsche.

Good point well made.
Admittedly there must be SOME difference, but the ROI is such that unless you are looking for professional standard the impact is negligible.
With cars though, you generally get what you pay for. Some of the cost is the prestige of the brand, but most is better parts and engineering.

I work in the car industry across many different brands and I can assure you, the ONLY differences these days, are the badges on them. It costs the same, pound for pound to design and manufacture a Kia Cee'd as it does a Bugatti Veyron.
Apart from the extra parts, the price difference is purely in the brand.

Really? Would have thought that parts (both what it is and what it is made from) and cost of labour to produce would have an impact?
For example - Kia Cee'd made from metal on a production line SHOULD be cheaper to make than a Rolls that is hand made? Or a Bugatti that is mostly carbon fibre?
