With luck nobody here is involved with this, but as there is a risk of some of the 2845 letters being sent out to totally innocent O2 customers, I thought it would help to post this update:

Of course if you're not innocent now would be a good time to get your story straight. Smiley LOL

3 key statements in the letter that should be remembered by anybody receiving a GEIL LoC :

1. "Should this matter ultimately be heard and determined by a court......"

2. "We should make it clear that the High Court has not yet considered the merits of our claim against you"

3. "This letter assumes that you.........were the user of the relevant computer on the day and time in question."

Also remember that Golden Eye International and Ben *** Productions are just ordinary trading companies and have no status in relation to the legal profession, i.e. they are not solicitors/lawyers/barristers.

Considering the size of O2 bradband that sounds like a high percentage of users downloading stuff by that particular supplier. I smell rat.

@Mods : since when has "Dover" been a no-no ? Smiley Frustrated

I'm sure the Dover District Council will take umbrage when they get to hear about this >>> http://www.dover.gov.uk/

@DaveC : also remember it's not the downloading process that contravenes copyright.....it's the uploading process to make it available to be downloaded.

I can't believe a moderator took out the name of a company under discussion??? Smiley Mad

What's all that about?

O2 customers risk being sent a letter claiming money from them by Ben Dover Productions, surely we are safe discussing this?

Maybe it offended the mod and they summised it would offend others. It still just conjures up the old joke to me. There again, maybe they are treating it as spam:smileywink: Silly I know, just absolutely pointless moderation.

An interesting new website >>>>>

http://www.igotagoldeneyeinternationalletter.org.uk/

"the letters aren't due out until mid to late August" ...... seems to be in the know so it will be sensible to keep an eye on this site.
