So Labour have eventally agreed to a general election. Apparently it probably will be in December!

The UK looks set for a December general election after Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn announced his party was ready to fight the "most radical campaign ever".

Mr Corbyn said his condition of taking a no-deal Brexit off the table had now been met after the EU agreed to extend the deadline until 31 January 2020.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson can only hold an election with the support of MPs - who have blocked it three times.

The PM will make a fresh attempt to get their backing in Parliament later.

The government bill published ahead of the Commons debate is for an early election on 12 December.

Reports now that the government will pull their bill for an early General Election if an amendement by the Lib Dems/SNP to lower voting age to 16 and allow EU citizens to vote is passed.

    Provisional amendments chosen

A provisional list of amendments has been published, having been chosen by the deputy speaker Lindsay Hoyle.

The first is to change the election date to 9 December - put forward by Labour.

The second is a technical amendment that backs up the first.

And the final amendment is from the government to change the registration date for voting to the same as the rest of the UK.

🚨Looks like there won't be votes on votes for 16 year-olds or votes for EU citizens 🚨

Only two non-government amendments selected, both of them relate to changing the date of the election to the 9th December

I honestly shake my head at this lot. They can't agree on Brexit. They can't agree on a General Election. FGS!!

And allowed four hours to say yeah, ok we'll agree to have an election? Total waste of time these MP's. Moaned about having a long prorogation then when they got their way, didn't bother turning up to debates. Yeah right, "holding the government to account". Thankfully the notion of allowing 16/17 year olds to vote at this late stage was rejected. One for a future government to sort out properly and not creating more chaos by introducing it as a weapon by the opposition parties.
