We all like to travel outdoor with our electronic gadgets like camera, mobile phone, MP3 player or a laptop but panic when it suddenly starts raining. Yes, weather in the UK is very uncertain and there's not much we can do at that time apart from keeping it safe!

Well, this could be a solution in the future, check out this clip from BBC Click

Imagine if these machines could be remotely installed at prime locations like malls for people to make their gadgets waterproof Smiley Very Happy What do you guys think, could it be popular among commuters?

Like the idea but why demo it with shop dummy phones - do they have no faith?

Unfortunatly this stuff is yet to be cost effective and is still prone to reduced efficiency over time.

The best ones available that I know of are very prone to heat damage of the coating at vaguely low temps (45c+)

I still own stocks with the guys that patented the orginal grin

(I don't mean to be a killjoy:D)

Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you’re wrong. So Ive been told wink

You're correct it can be expensive but you never know when a new piece of technology is discovered which is cost effective and equally more suitable/ durable for gadgets. I think, the newer version will have potential slight_smile

Ooo I have huge hopes for it:)

However whether it is adopted is different.

How much money do manufacturers make from selling refurbed models?

Fingers crossed they do it for the consumers though. Mass production tends to lower prices considerably slight_smile

@Liquid, yes mass production will defo lower the cost but first consumers need to believe in the product and technique used, I think.

@pengipete, you're head too in case it rains or the good 'ol umbrella would do the trick wink

I am skeptical about this taking off as Insurance companies make too much money from consumer electronics being water-damaged.

Looks cool though!
