Talking of Bees ... ... ... local council is considering planting wildflower seeds on its unkempt grass borders to tempt the bees ... ... ... the swans made a far better job of keeping the towpath verge tidy than the person who comes along too late with a strimmer and makes the place a whole lot worse.
Personal Gripe: no-one trims back the very old hawthorn hedge, in places near to the centre of the towpath ... ... ... Kings of the Towpath = cyclists without a bell don't mind at all ... whereas ... people who need a broader width like me with my trolly / walker need to be away from the canal's edge due to the camber of tarmac surface etc ... ... ... The Canal and River Trust have a nearby sign 'Making Life Better By Water'.
