It is 2018, The year of the Halo... Like it or hate it, it will be implemented as part of new FIA rules

None of the 2018 cars have been revealed yet (that happens in February) but this is how it will look

Most drivers' aren't keen but are having to toe the party line...

Hi I'm not a great fan of the halo but if it's mandatory for all teams then they just have to comply. It's not a lot of fun for us watching though and the drivers àrent too keen either.

Personally I dislike it. Toto Wolff, in an interview yesterday, said quite openly. 'he would like to take a chainsaw to it'.....He said it affects the balance of the car as it's so heavy and it's not aesthetically pleasing. However the FIA want it, so for this season we are stuck with it.

I expect will will find out more when testing starts next week. A word from me to Toto...Mercedes halo would be more aesthetically pleasing if they painted the damn thing silver instead of black...

Winter testing gets underway today 8am Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya...

So far so good with testing. Bottas set the fastest time. Sadly for McLaren Alonso crashed out into the gravel pit after setting great times in 2nd place

Testing day one. It was raining in the afternoon so some teams retired
