Starting a new thread (before the last one gets split again)...:smileytongue:
It is 2018, The year of the Halo... Like it or hate it, it will be implemented as part of new FIA rules
None of the 2018 cars have been revealed yet (that happens in February) but this is how it will look
Most drivers' aren't keen but are having to toe the party line...

Yes Abu Dhabi was a lot of fun with Will Smith and Lewis.
However as Will was the one waving the chequered flag at race end, we know who was in the no 44 car
The video shows a few more of his shenanigans

@Cleoriff wrote:Toro Rosso have announced Alexander Alborn will replace the pretty useless Brendan Hartley next year
Alex is a Thai national who was born and lived in England. https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/albon-confirmed-toro-rosso-2019/4304672/
He will partner Daniil Kyvat, giving the TR team a brand new line up.
Of the 10 racing teams, only 2 have retained the 2018 line up. Mercedes and Haas
Mmn....having had a lot of experience at the hand of Thai drivers in general, stand by for a lot of gung ho never say die antics. You could say though, you need that to drive on the roads over there. After my Thai driving 'adventures' I reckon I could do a half decent job in a F1 car....

Albon was born at The Portland Hospital in London, England. His father, Nigel Albon is also a former racing driver who participated in the BTCC and Porsche Carrera Cup. Growing up, Albon spent time at Ipswich School in Ipswich, Suffolk, before leaving the school to pursue his professional racing career.

He would only be Thai if his mother is Thai and he was born in Thailand
English names are common and can be completely different from their given or birth name. Not sure at all how it would be otherwise?

His dad was British and raced cars in the UK, (image below)
So his mother must have been Thai....however Alex was born and brought up in the UK....hence my query.

However, Alex will be racing as a Thai national which is a bit of a cheek if he is good...due to him being born here as well as living and learning to race here...lol

Force India will undergo a name change now they have been taken over
In 2019 they will be known as Racing Point F1. Bit of a non inventive name!!
Also the new drivers have picked their numbers....
McLaren’s Lando Norris will race with #4, Williams’ George Russell will have #63 and Sauber’s Antonio Giovinazzi will run with #99.
Toro Rosso's Alexander Albon is yet to reveal his number, but F1 returnee Robert Kubica will race with #88 on his Williams.
Elsewhere, there are revised team names, most notably with Scuderia Ferrari adding the Mission Winnow tag to its official entry, while Haas F1 has added new sponsor Rich Energy to its name.
