Definitely useful for me. I don't use Google maps purely because I seem to travel through places where there is no signal and it takes an age to re-connect if it does losing any sort of capability. I'm guessing I'm going to have to delete something first to store the map!

And of course the biggest advantage for many users, is they won't have to worry about getting stung by roaming charges, when they're using the app travelling abroad.

Not just roaming charges, but any data charges, even at home. At the moment I use an app called Map Factor, which I've used for years and has been great. It uses Ordinance Survey Maps and has turn by turn directions. All done offline. There's also Nokia's Here app, which I believe is also very good. Google is pretty late coming to the party, but I will try it when it becomes available and will switch if it's better than what I use now.

There's also CoPilot. But I've no personal experience of it, and there seems to be a lot of mixed reviews for the iOS version. But it seems to be popular amongst Android users.

The app you've linked to is a pay app. It only offers a 7 day free trial.
The one I use is totally free

The Nokia app is free as well.
