Doctor Who to regenerate for the 11th time

This week saw the speculation that Matt Smith will depart the tardis in this years christmas special. Is it a pr stunt to promote next weeks return of the doctor to tv screens & to hype up audiences to ready them for the 50th anniversary.

Or is it true, if so who would you like to see as the 12th doctor or a big question, would you want a female doctor who

my preferences would be a a mixed race doctor to provide a cultural difference or a female doctor:smileywink:

Like I said to a friend yesterday look at tennant, they did that regeneration at the end of one episode of the 4th series finale then the next week saw a mad buzz around who would be the doctor the following week & why no one knew, only to find out that it was a secret plot & it was a partial regeneration,..

After all that, tennant was still the doctor for another 18 months before smith took over

Finale of 4th season.... But the 4th season was Tennants last, and 5x01 was the one Matt Smith is flying over London and crashes into the gardenhut of Amelia Pond ('s aunt)....

So how you come on 18 months in which Tennant was still the doc? ôo *totally confussed*

after the 4th series ended, there was a 2008 christmas special then 2009 saw 4 special episodes starring david tennant instead of normally one 13 episode series.

christmas day 2009 saw the first part of a 2 part story which was tennants final story, the second part was shown on new years day 2010 which saw the defeat of the master & the timelords, tennant then at the end had a big regeneration into matt smith at the end of that episode

the 5th series that starred matt smith began in april 2010 4 months after david tennants final appearance

The 4 specials were send the same time usually 13 eps came? Why the hell they did it that way?

I think I have missing 2 eps in my collection (And still avoided to watch the specials...Didn't wanted to let Ten go -.-)

They did it because originally they were going to do a 5th series where tennant would leave part way through the series & the 2nd half would introduce the new doctor but they decided to do the specials instead.

Waters of mars November 2009

The end of time part one was on Christmas Day 2009, part two where tennant left was shown on New Years was shown on New Year's Day 2010
