Day off, time to kill, so I thought i'd have a blast on my X-Box !

So like my title says ;

It's my day off work and I fancy a blast on my X-Box with the new Tomb Raider game............ but no........... my x-box has other idea's.......  Smiley Frustrated

I tried another 5 games and it says unrecognised disc !    Smiley Mad

Everything else works on it !

Microsift X-Box website tells me to send it to them via UPS.

Its under warranty till July 2013 and shipping is free but........ i'm left looking at unattached optic and power cords, and a nice new Tomb Raider game I cant play. Poor Lara Croft.

Now my games console has to go to Germany...... Grrrrrr.

Originally my first thought was to purchase a Ps3 so I could also use it to watch Blue Ray discs but unbeknown to me x- box and Ps3 gamers have a us & them thing thus my two sons threatened to disown me if I got a Ps3 !

I've had the same ps3 for 7 years.

Touch wood it's still working! Skyrim may kill it though haha.

Isn't there somthing along the lines of wrapping the Xbox in a towel and turning it on to fix this issue?

(Don't see how overheating it does but apparantly worked on other forums)
Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you’re wrong. So Ive been told wink

I did that and it worked for 2 weeks. I wouldn't advise as a long-term fix.

It got really hot!

I remember seeing a piece on watchdog a few years ago where two guys in a transit van armed with a soldering iron and some motherboard bits repaired x box's suffering from the rings of death in minutes ,which was set up to highlight the time it takes for a repair carried out by Microsoft.

Thank the heavens is approximate 10 days now.
