Opening number, we saw the professionals skating to part of the Bolero which was great.

We  also saw Johnny Weir back as a judge. Good call!.

Greg and Vanessa. The Greatest Showman.

A really excellent skate. Lots of power. Chris wants to see more difficulty in his lifts . Scored 35

Miles and Vanessa. All Along The Watchtower,

A very difficult routine. Nice to see his father playing guitar while Miles skated,

Great performance. Scored 36

Amber and Simon. Mama.

This skate really exposed her weakness of rarely skating alone. A good skate with great lifts. Scored 33

Ricky and Annette. Three little Birds

Ok performance a bit flat at times. Poor with lifts. Scored 30

Adele and Mark Young Hearts Run Free

Really great performance. Lots of movement across the ice. Scored 36

Eddie and Vicky. Jump.

Very wobbly performance. Needs more quality into his performance. Lifts poor Scored 32.5

Ryan and  Amani. Easy (his dads song)

Very emotional skate. Plenty of power in his performance. Loved it Scored 35.

Posting now...

So missed the opening number as Man Utd were scraping by a persistent Luton. So will catch up later as I did wonder where the Bolero tribute was in between the ITVX adverts. I see Johnny Weir is going to be on Motsi's speed dial for fashion tips this year on Strictly 🤣 Emo week so the emotion knob turned to 11.

Greg: Showing off at the weekend. What a start and now has the consistency to both perform and skate. Now did that elephant remind you of Bez?

Miles: All Along here: watch me win Get your dad to play and come up with one of the more complex and intwinned routines ever. Where does he go from here? Should say, definitely improved on the transitions but next week, let's see the solo skating and less lifts.

Amber Mama mia here we go again Didn't pick up on last week's other skaters improvements. Same again same routine. Pretty much turning into another Roxy. Did do a bit more solo skating but nowhere near enough for this stage of the series. Be an absolute disaster if Simon got injured and Sylvain replaced him as that would mark her exit.

Ricky Three little improvements but not much more than last weeks big improvements. Not bad but at this stage, needed to be more dynamic.

Adele Keep on running Didn't like the theme at all. She covers the ice well but too stiff (possibly due to stoma bag) but still the nag of didn't we see these moves last week?

Eddie Jump up jump up and get down jump! Jump! Jump! Jump! Well there is a joy to his skating but needs work on synching to his partner. Talking of which, surely Vicky can be a bit more closer to him as it comes across as being very distant when you see the others perform.

Ryan Easy does it A bit too safe for me. No obvious errors this week which was good but enough content to be safe this week.

An appearance by Matt Evers in the best of the series pointless segment filler. Oh the bar is so low. No musical act - woohoo - and a segment on Sarajevo. Which was a bit short but enough time to plug the farewell tour. next year. Tickets available soon.

Skate-off: Ricky v Amber. Personally, Ricky was the better technical skater as Amber showed why she was in the bottom two by showing her technical ability to drape on her partner. Thought it was more likely to be Eddie v Ricky but you know now who has the bigger fan base. Was it the right decision to save her? Possibly and only just as she is the better performer of the two. They won't save her next week against anyone but Eddie if she has no solo skating.

Now doesn't the Team Challenge remind you of this:

Yet again, I've searched for the music for tomorrow and can't find it anywhere.

If they can't release it by Saturday then they can take a running jump!

Maybe, it's because it's TEAM CHALLENGE? Although I doubt they will be skating in silence!!

Stupid  programme. 🙄

Team Challenge.

Mods and Rockers

Team Mods Miles, Eddie and Amber ....Skated to My Generation  The Who

Team Rockers Adele, Greg and Ryan.Skated to Satisfacton (Rolling  Stones)

Both skated well but the Rockers won, giving them an extra point each.

Appearance by Rod Stewart and Jools Holland. (I've seen Rod in concert about 6 times) Not keen on him doing this sort of music if honest but Jools was brilliant.)

Skate off:

Eddie and Amber. Didn't see the skate off sadly. I believe there was a mixed vote to save?

Amber got through.

Next week is the semi-final where the remaining couples skate twice.

Thank you for the breakdown @Cleoriff

I thought the best performance was by Adele and Mark; with Miles and Vanessa a very close second.

In my opinion, overall Greg and Vanessa were really good with some difficult lifts but as Chris said there was an issue with the cross-over - but deserved to be in the semi-final.

Eddie and Vicky; Ryan and Amani; and Amber and Simon were not as good as the other three pairs. As I did not see last week`s show I can`t comment on whether or not Amber showed a marked improvement; but that said, from tonight`s performances I found it difficult to guess who would be in the skate-off.

Team Challenge - I agreed with the judges that the Rockers [Team Adele] did the best routine.

Skate-off - Ryan looked visibly shocked that he`d been saved from the skate-off and is through to next week.

As to the skate-off, I thought Amber put on a better performance than Eddie.

I enjoyed this week`s DOI and good to be back to watch it.

Next week is the semi-final with "flying" ? So no Props Week this year - or did I miss it ?

So Johnny Weir cos-playing Kai from Lexx. And if you never encountered Lexx before click the link, well lets just say "cult sci-fi tv" and "they'll never make that again" and "oh so Canadian 90's Sci-fi", "yeah it really is weird" "not for kids let alone sane adults". Also: it's on Freevee except series 4.

Kai-Brunnen-G-LEXX-Michael-McMannus

Anyway, I look forward to seeing Ashley Banjo come up with a better outfit.

Eddie One direction and judges are marking you down Great opener and you can't fault he goes out to skate on his own and does pull every one off. Unfortunately, his performance levels is behind the stronger ones which is no fault of his own.

Miles: Genius in a bottle. Good of course, more smoother than ever and wait for it, I actually preferred Eddie's routine in that there was more solo skating there. Definitely could have done more himself this week but there's always next week to shine.

Ryan Club Sunny D Hmmm, another couple of errors and lost speed. Bonus points for the gold hotpants and skating barechested and sliding on his back but overmarked I think. Still on the cautious side which I think led to certain transitions being on the slow side.

Greg My My My  After last week, the expectations were high and went up another level. Best of the night in performance and skating especially on his own. Yeah just needs a little more work on landings but a dead cert for the final now.

Amber Portaloo Basically the same as last week with the same amount of solo skating. Not good enough at this stage and another skate-off beckons as she's going downhill.

Adele Setting the world on fire This weeks massive improver. From the solo skating to the performance, this was just about her best. Could have done a bit more on her own for me though but enough for this week to justify the score.

I'm just going to leave this here for my thoughts on the Beer Belly Dance troupe:

Might be some complaints going into Ofcom for that particular segment....

Team Challenge: Could just about guess which team wasn't going to be the winner. Hint: It featured Eddie. Thought the Mods routine was far more synchronised and polished whilst the Rockers were definitely out of time and out of place most of the time (yes Ryan you). Was it more technically difficult? I don't think so but we know who the judges want to exit.

Skate-off: Actually predicted it last week with Eddie and Amber. No real surprise in those two being there. Rather good routine from Eddie and as Oti correctly summarised, he was the better technically. However, we all know by know the judges favour performance so saved Amber.

She's done though. Next week is the double jeopardy of  flying (you know the thing didn't ask for it but apparently its back) and solo skating. Unless she's been hiding something over the last few weeks, it will likely show her lack of confidence and I suspect it will be a basic set of steps. Unless Ryan messes up that is.
