The BBC have announced that two patients in the UK have been diagnosed with the coronavirus.

No further details have been given other than they are both members of the same family and are receiving specialist NHS care.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-51325192

At present, 83 Britons and 27 foreign nationals are flying back to the UK from Wuhan, the Chinese city at the centre of the outbreak.

The flight is due to land at RAF Brize Norton at 13:30 GMT.

The UK passengers will then be taken to Arrowe Park Hospital on the Wirral and quarantined for two weeks.

@pgn
if a person is ok and only needs a jab collapses with heart failure for the need of a jab, doesn't seem sensible. All ages can be affected not just elderly. Wondering now if only people with covid19 will be taken to hospital. This could be as they are infectious-so point taken.
Regrettably I have never had much respect for GPs.
I have met some exceptional Consultants and many fantastic nurses.
I think could give own B12 jab, people do use jabs for insulin.
Difficult times.

GP surgeries cancelling B12 jabs for
Pernicious Anaemia. Really worrying as affects immune system. No further advice or help just cut off.

Who is at greater risk, I think - not an easy choice for medical staff to make, @TallTrees. There will be more decisions like this as critical patients arrive in larger numbers at key hospitals - GPs may have similar decisions to make, for expediency.

I can't understand a GP surgery cancelling B12 jabs at all. Particularly if they are required on a monthly basis. The 3 monthly jabs are possibly less important, however our GP practice has a registered practice nurse to undertake these procedures. All a bit weird to me!

Don't most medical practices now have a registered Nurse? Mine does and it's not one of the larger practices.

Not all @jonsie

Some have nurses who are at nursing auxiliary level. Unless they have been given the appropriate training they are not allowed to give injections.

Yes @Cleoriff these are very quick jabs and a safety screen could be installed. Told there was a system in, and told the system, a few days ago happy to make appointment as then told it was essential.

Seems that withdrawing B12 jabs is Country wide according to the Pernicious Anaemia Society who have made a complaint to the Minister of health.

Yes have nurse and pharmacy and pharmacist. I asked would the pharmacist do it? They do give flu jabs, they nearly fainted.

Looking at PA SOCIETY site some studies have shown that sub-lingual lozenges with methylcobalamin could do a holding job.

Now looking for a good supplier.
Bye for now TallTrees 😳

@TallTrees

As Vit B12 is still considered THE treatment for PA, they shouldn't be withdrawing it, until approval has been given by N.I.C.E and Public Health England.

Good luck with your search for the replacement lozenges. thumbsup

My first Asda online shopping delivery under new Covid 19 directives.

Actually the delivery went well.

Came at 8am. All in plastic carrier bags. I opened the door awaiting instructions. Driver asked me to close the door whilst he put bagged goods on the doorstep. As soon as he went for 2nd set of bags, I opened door and brought in 3 bags. Then repeat.

From a distance of two metres he told me they don't accept return of any goods and if you need a refund on something you have, which has been substituted, then you do this via email not phone.

As they wont accept anything back, this could be a loss making exercise for them?

I thanked him for his courtesy and told him to keep safe. Doing a grand job!

Thank you @Cleoriff
I will get some tablets, reading up tabs dissolved under tongue are the quickest way to get boost.
Good re NICE & Public Health England will look into that.
I know times are difficult but to abandon patients is in my opinion unacceptable and unnecessary.
Where is my GP hiding!😎😡
No sign of them, push nurses out in front.
May be @pgn will laugh at my thought on GPs in difficult times
When the going gets tough :
the GPs get going 🚀

Getting to the GP here is a battle with stroppy receptionists first, @TallTrees @.

They seem to want to know more about you than the GP or nurse does just to get an appointment 🙄
