The BBC have announced that two patients in the UK have been diagnosed with the coronavirus.

No further details have been given other than they are both members of the same family and are receiving specialist NHS care.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-51325192

At present, 83 Britons and 27 foreign nationals are flying back to the UK from Wuhan, the Chinese city at the centre of the outbreak.

The flight is due to land at RAF Brize Norton at 13:30 GMT.

The UK passengers will then be taken to Arrowe Park Hospital on the Wirral and quarantined for two weeks.

@Cleoriff

They started to give the third jab to those over 80 in nursing homes now here as I heard. But still no info for others (I would need mine in mid november as my last one was 12.5.).

But on another note, we have many breakthroughs from vaccinated patients getting Covid anyway (a very mild form, but still) - all due to delta.

@ComaChameleon  Same here, with patients suffering with a mild form of Covid even with double vaccination. I'm not overly concerned though, whilst they remain mild and aren't in hospital on ventilators. The mild forms are nothing worse than a bad dose of flu. Without testing, many would probably go undiagnosed. If honest, I'm probably more concerned about long covid. This seems quite debilitating and in some cases can be life changing in terms of jobs etc.

@Cleoriff

are there studies yet about patients with covid after 2 vaccinations? Especially about Long Covid?

Right, long covid frightens me more than covid itself does. 😕

@ComaChameleon

196 million was awarded in July to study and treat long covid, so yes research is being done in the  UK. They are gathering information from other countries as well.

@Cleoriff I meant if you know about it. There are so much studies still going, but I haven't heard about finished yet.

Our clinic (maximum care level) has specialised appointment-hours for people with long covid and neurological problems.

But our doctors come from another max-carer, so they cant tell anythng about it 🙈

@ComaChameleonI don't know much about it at all, other than long covid affects different people in different ways. There is no definitive answer or treatment. A lot will depend on whether you have pre-disposing conditions or how badly affected they were with Covid in the first place.

Anyway, in the UK we are starting to give booster doses of the vaccine to frontline staff and those over the age of 55.

@Cleoriff

Even heard about bad long-cov of people with no pre-conditions & "only" a medium hard affection (only a bit o2 via nose canulla (dk if it's the right term...we say nose-glasses XD).

A friend just wrote me an hour ago, she's down after the third dose (was one week sick after dose two too tho).

At long last, changes to travel abroad is being implemented.

From 4am on 22 September, eight countries will be moved off the government's red list. These are: Turkey, Pakistan, the Maldives, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Oman and Bangladesh.

From 4 October, the current traffic light system of red, amber and green countries will be scrapped and replaced with one red list only.

Also from that date, passengers who are fully vaccinated will no longer need to take a pre-departure test for travelling into England from non-red list countries.

Then, from the end of October, people will be able to replace their two day PCR tests with a cheaper lateral flow test.

Those unvaccinated will still have to pay for PCR tests.

About time - something needs to be done to make those who think they are above getting COVID-19 take medical advice and get the vaccine. Selfish not to, really.
