The BBC have announced that two patients in the UK have been diagnosed with the coronavirus.

No further details have been given other than they are both members of the same family and are receiving specialist NHS care.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-51325192

At present, 83 Britons and 27 foreign nationals are flying back to the UK from Wuhan, the Chinese city at the centre of the outbreak.

The flight is due to land at RAF Brize Norton at 13:30 GMT.

The UK passengers will then be taken to Arrowe Park Hospital on the Wirral and quarantined for two weeks.

Anyone beginning to feel like they are just a lab rat? (with apols to @liggerz87 😉)?

Albeit a widely-read one, I think I do...

I wouldn't be happy with that at all @pgn  and of course they WILL have to seek permission from the people willing to trial it. I'm just pleased I've had my first AZ and the 2nd dose of AZ is booked for April.

Also, if I could put a news blackout on Covid and vaccines for a week, I would.

Personally I'm sick of hearing about it. As someone who has had the vaccine, I just don't want to hear that blah blah company has developed a vaccine which is 90% effective, which causes people to wonder whether the one they had is any good after all.

I know all the science but this constant bombardment of facts, figures and statistics (manipulated or otherwise) is NOT good for the mental health of people who are already suffering due to being in lockdown.

Totally agree with what you said @Cleoriff

As I`m still waiting for GP to contact me [my choice rather than phone for an appointment as mentioned in NHS letter I`ve received], I`m a little concerned that if I have the first jab I won`t necessarily have the same vaccine for the second jab. Although the "mixing" of vaccines will have been clinically tested, how sure can we be that this will be as affective as giving the same vaccine [admittedly I haven`t read all the reports]?

Also, I think that there has been too much media coverage on the additional forthcoming vaccines.

It's all venturing into the unknown a bit too much for my liking

Interesting that Switzerland haven't signed off on the vax as yet

The French and some other EU countries are only giving it to the under 65 groups

I'm certainly not having it yet!

Luckily they are only trialling this and if it is deemed successful wont be put into use until August.

There are many eminent scientists who do NOT think mixing is a good idea. They feel having a different second vaccine would be akin to starting a vaccine programme all over again. Until that is ruled out, I'll stick with 1 and 2 of the same make and brand thanks. yahoo

The French and other countries haven't signed off on AZ @jonsie  as they haven't done the testing as we have in Oxford where it was produced.

Personally I wouldn't take one bit of notice of the French anyway. Rarely among the top leading scientists in THIS era. Not forgetting the EU are being a bit sulky as they are claiming they haven't had their fare share.

So why would they want it if it 'isn't being signed off' hey?

They are peeved because the UK have vaccinated millions more than they have.

Countries shouldn't play political games when it comes to the health of their citizens.

Thanks @Anonymous thumbsup

My frustartion with all this is growing every day, and mentally I am completely drained now.

I have been thinking about writing to my MP, but he's a tory so wil probably just click delete and not bother reading it fully.

I want to know what they are doign to help university students who have continued to incur debts to pay for houses/flats/halls at their place of study but have not been allowed to go back since they were sent home early December.

The maintenance grant given to students for the last year should be written off as debt as they have been paying for places they have been unable to live in.

They have been the forgotten ones throught this, apart from when the government needed to blame people for covid spreading. It's a disgrace.

Thanks

Steve

News from the grapevine here.
Neighbour I mentioned going last year for Guinea pig tests...has had a further jab this last Saturday..was told that he had been trialling real vaccine not placebo...it was Novavax...over 2020 and 2021 he has had three jabs so they said he won't go for top up after this one (3rd jab).
Very well done my neighbour.
He has had no side effects.
He is over 70 years.
Thank you.
