Hey guys,

You may remember the Community Film Club thread from last week which showed a few films that were on television last weekend. This week we are doing the same and I will include a selection of films on during the week for you to catch if you feel like kicking back and enjoying a good tale slight_smile

I'll also update with film news throughout the week and if you find anything interesting out, post it here so we can give our opinions and thoughts!

Featured Film: Tonight our featured film is Watchmen, directed by Zak Snyder and based on the award winning Alan Moore graphic novel. I chose this one, as we chatted about it in last week's thread and it's an acquired taste so I would love to know what everyone thinks. It is on Channel 4 at 10:05 PM.

- Alan Moore also wrote V for Vendetta, another popular novel adapted into a feature film

- The teaser trailer for Watchmen sparked so much interest, the graphic novel it is based     on became a top seller again.

- Most of the actors seen reading the news are actual news anchor from TV stations in Vancouver, where the movie was filmed

Film news: The first piece of movie news this week is the story of Tim Burton's 'Pinocchio'. He has hired 'Kick-Ass' writer Jane Goldman (wife of Jonathan Ross) to adapt the story for him and Iron Man himself Robert Downey Jr is tipped to played the role of Geppetto.

How do you feel about this new Tim Burton effort? Is Downey Jr a good choice?

Also, I'd love to hear your thoughts on tonight's film

More movie goodies coming soon wink

"Acquired taste" is another word for "rubbish on tv". Which frankly it is unless you follow the backstory closely which then makes sense as the film goes on. Isn't there a special edition DVD that puts in all the stuff that was edited out? I almost liked it but its a long film for a sunday night when there's work next day.

Strictly results show! Sunday's is when I make time to watch Match of the Day 2 as I gave up staying up to watch it on Saturday night. Usual end up watching CSI on 5 USA in between but today I've got to do some work for a relative involving owls and a stylus.

Cannot wait for the Hobbit! The book is fantastic.

What do you think of the hobbit's 48fps recording?
it is meant to be very crisp in detail but some have said it looks like an episode of Doctor Who! grin

I loved Skyfall, one of the best Bond films ever and really took me back to the feel of the Sean Connery films.

How about you?

48fps? That won't scale very well.

I guess if there's not many action packed scenes it would be suitable.

I'm really looking forward to it:) LOTR is one of the few book to movie adaptations I think did justice to the original media format.
Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you’re wrong. So Ive been told wink

I was going in thinking that Skyfall was going to be another Steven Segal action type Bond film as it has been recently but no, it was more like what I expected a Bond film to be. Loved the way they effectively reset MI6 to what we all know.

Don't think I'm too bothered about 48fps. It might look silly on our current TV's but in a decade or so, it will be different when the 4k stuff starts filtering down.

I am there! I didn't like Watchmen the first time I saw it, but I'm prepared to give it a second chance, unlike my Ex wink
