I actually bought a real Norway spruce tree today from Yorkshire Trading (formerly Woolworths shop)
about 15" high in a terracotta pot ..... with the intention of putting it out into the yard next year
I put a gold star atop the central spike ..... but ..... it went bent ..... = ..... not a good look
so's I trimmed back the central spike until the said gold pretty star was vertical & admired the result of my ministrations
tree now about 9" tall to top point of star
& to boot I had cut off the growing point = what a buerk I'd been
but it looks nice on my kitchen/diner windowsill
& I'm off to the same shop tomorrow for another one to put in the yard anyway
ho ho ho

my best Christmas present ever is somewhere in the top cupboards in my room ..... & ..... I treasure it, still in its original box with printed the red rosette = the award for toy of the year & contents intact except for the 4 red/black/blue/green biros ..... saw it on Blue Peter many, may years ago when a child possibly still at junior school ..... made by Dennis? Fischer before merger to form Fischer Price toys ..... I just loved playing with this toy, quietly away on my own ..... what is it ..... have you guessed ..... = ..... Spirograph
what's your best Christmas present ever?

my son, now 29 never asked for Action Man or other toy figures
he never asked for a gun either ..... but ..... at his 5th birthday some dimwit mother bought him one = silvertone complete with sound & flashing lights = urgh ! ..... but ..... most popular toy of the party
still no harm done
he was highly tuned into lego from duplo to technic
train set (partly his dad's & new)
scalectrix set (partly his dad's & new)
& when I cleared out the cellar after he had flown the next
I found chipmunk = his baby sit on & ride furry toy ..... + ..... some experiments he had been doing eg a bicycle pump attached to a large coke bottle = sign of an enquiring mind?
