Rumours are rife that TalkTalk have purchased Tesco Broadband and Blinkbox.

Blinkbox had gotten into some debt, however it will not be transferred in the sale.  It has not been confirmed that Tesco Broadband will change its name.

Is this TalkTalk's next big step into the big league?

The thread has gone from a simple takeover to very relevant discussions about coverage in rural areas and ultimately a lack of choice as to who can provide better coverage for those areas. I wholeheartedly agree with Nick that in the modern world you should not be penalised for choosing the area in which you live. It's 2015 not the dark ages. With modern technology there is no reason for services to be limited, it's purely cost and dividends to the shareholders.

I live in a village just outside a large town and I too have suffered from O2 signal and poor broadband speeds. Thank goodness for Virginmedia and 100+ speeds compared to all the other major suppliers who haven't the forethought or inclination to provide a decent broadband speed.

BT and Sky can only provide a mere 3Mb and others utilising the same exchange and phone lines are no better.

Off topic? Anything but!

Too many people seem to want to form an opinion as to what can or can't be posted. Let's leave it to the people who get paid to do it.

As a side note, I know for a fact that in some cases, masts are very cleverly disguised as conifer trees in rural areas as to not impede too much with the surrounding area. With that in mind, I see no reason why the rural communities have to suffer from less modern speeds and / or services.
Well, except profit...

I live in a rural area, and have seen firsthand how well masts etc have been camouflaged into fitting with the area slight_smile so Id have to agree that you dont have to live in a city to get good coverage etc.

I cant really say anything about tesco, as my other half works for the opposition, but they have been cutting a lot of dead weight from their name.

I find it hilarious how things go off topic, used to be my forte here lol slight_smile
