Rumours are rife that TalkTalk have purchased Tesco Broadband and Blinkbox.

Blinkbox had gotten into some debt, however it will not be transferred in the sale.  It has not been confirmed that Tesco Broadband will change its name.

Is this TalkTalk's next big step into the big league?

Oooh for those of us in rural England we can wish.

I currently have 70mbs but my new home will only have 6mbs.

That said for what I use it for when fibre does get there 38mbs (or whatever it reaches depending on distance from street cabinet) will be more than enough.

For 90% plus I think this push for speed is broadly meaningless. Its the bandwidth that is more important. If 38mbs speed was consistent 24/7 then job done.

We're probably going to go with Sky fibre.  We've got broadband with them at the moment and are tied in until next year and I don't fancy paying for a second phone line.

I've thought about Virgin Media but I can still remember working for them when they were Telewest...

Good god...it must have been due to their grief when I left.  LOL

They probably laid a few more cables and upped their game. They do keep writing and inviting me back.

No chance now....I have had a block paving drive ;laid over the cable Smiley Very Happy

No thanks. There are good reasons why I prefer rural living.

Anyway why should rural dwellings be treated differently? Why should city folk expect more? Why are our needs different?

Oh @Cleoriff don't get me started lol.

It is a fair question though. Why should people who choose to enjoy the best our countryside has to offer be given a lesser service?

We already have poor mobile networks although I agree by end 2017 that may be less of an issue.

But as for broadband, every area has BT landlines so no reason other than cost that they should not get fibre to the cabinet broadband. Yes it is expensive but the Govt have thrown over £1bn into the pot.

As for @gemz4the1's comment about moving to a city, it city dwelling is for you, great. Living in a big city with all the services and the trappings that brings doesn't bring happiness. Most rural people are far happier than their city dwelling counterparts.

On a roll? Not started yet but. .....

I'm stuck in a concrete jungle and you have gorgeous beautiful views.

Both I agree in this day and ago should have decent coverage @Anonymous

Yep @Anonymous a concrete jungle with traffic issues, higher crime rates, poor air quality, lack of privacy to name but a few.

If the concrete jungle is for you, fab.
If It makes you happy, fab.
If it meets your needs and wants, fab.

But for those who want something different, to enjoy nature as god wanted it to be, to live with nature as one, then that is a life choice.
