Good Afternoon!
With less that 30 minutes until the launch of the BlackBerry Passport I decided to setup this announcement thread as I'm not expecting an official thread from O2!
Please leave your constructive thoughts here to try and keep this launch info and members thoughts all in one thread. (If possible )
Please try to remain On Topic.
You can follow the launch in the BlackBerry Live Stream here: http://live.blackberry.events/

An interesting graphic I found on Twitter but I don't know where it originated...

I was lucky enough to pick up one of these yesterday, my initial thoughts....
The size of the Passport does seem very strange to start with but once you use it for a few hours you forget about it. The thickness of the device is spot on and its heavier compared to the usual smartphones but it feels real top quality, honestly you need to pick up one of these to see what I'm talking about. At no point has it felt too heavy and the build quality is again something you need to experience for yourselves, real top notch. It also fits in my trouser pockets no problem
The screen is fantastic. Really clear and sharp, this thing really transforms your web surfing and emails/social media. I used a Z30 this evening and it felt like a huge step backwards with the narrower screen, you end up logging onto the desktop versions of websites on the Passport as they are now so much easier to navigate and use. Using the touch sensitive keyboard means you have such a nice large area to view the pages and don't accidentally click on links as your panning around either.
The keyboard takes some getting used to. Like a lot of people I've been using full touchscreens for the last couple of years so you do have an adjustment period before you start hammering out text. I think this could be the main stumbling block for some people and it will take time to get used to. The touchpad features of the keyboard are absolutely fantastic and is something I've been using a lot since i got it, especially for scrolling.
This thing is fast. The new processor really makes 10.3 chug along and android apps load up and function extremely quickly and running multiple apps causes no issues. Android apps now open instantly rather than the usual few seconds of hanging on previous devices/OS and the performance of these apps over 10.2.1 is very noticeable.
Hard to comment on battery life right now but I've had this thing off charge for 9 hours and have used it for a normal day of emails, social media, web surfing etc and I'm at 75%. This is also likely to improve once the usual BB10 bedding in period is over in another day or two.
Overall I'm very pleased so far. I'm not one for gaming on a phone so the square screen suits me fine, viewing videos obviously causes black bars top and bottom but again not really a deal breaker for me. If your someone who uses a phone for mainly web surfing, emails and your social media world, the big square screen is perfect. As i mentioned earlier, going back to a narrow screen after using my Passport just feels so restrictive, it does make you realise how much panning and zooming you was doing previously
Any other questions, feel free to ask

@Anonymous I am incredibly jealous of you!
Your review echos everything I've read about the Passport online, thanks you very much for giving us your thoughts from an honest (read that as not press or advertising) experience!
If you get bored of it in the next week and a half I'll take it off you when I get back from holiday!

Thanks for your thoughts @Anonymous sounds like a nice bit of kit

A lot of reviews I read seem to rate this device from a consumer perspective. This was never intended to be a device for playing games or watching hours of videos
The major points for me was battery life and the keyboard. I do highly suggest you pick up one of this in a shop though just to experience the build quality, I also did try to bend it but it doesn't move

Thanks for your thoughts @Anonymous .
How much wider than the Z30 is it and does it feel comfortable when phoning. I ask as my hands are quite small and I found with the Z30 that it was a little uncomfortable on longer calls holding it.

I'll be honest in the short time I've had it, only used it to call once or twice for short periods
Again its a strange feeling holding it to your ear, I'm able to hold it with no issues but I can only suggest you try it in a store yourself as it may be a completely different story for yourself

So John Chen has today reported as aprt of the Q2 Fiscal 2015 Earning Call that there has been obver 200,000 BlackBerry Passports sold across Amazon.com and ShopBlackBerry since it was announced on Wednesday.
The phone has moved to the top of the Amazon unlocked device list and sold out on ShopBlackBerry within the first six hours after sales went live.
Looks like it hits retail stores on 29th September in the UK...and we are still waiting on an official announcement from O2 as to whether they will stock it or not!

The lack of comment doesn't look a good sign...

Yup...it feels a bit like this whenever I ask:
