From last year they were Sleeping Beeuties 2018 to

This year 2019  again these little kind and sweet bees have caught me unaware and when I opened

the sleeping box there were a few anxious looking faces!  So up went the boxes sharpish

and they were put on top to feel the fresh air and off they flew ~ they'll be back always

to the same spot they first remember.

These are the boxes facing South in the hot sun.

Wildlife have no respect for photographers!

Hopefully we will see some now it's getting warmer. We can only hope

I have a buddleia plant in my garden and they normally like that...

I saw a butterfly today it fluttered by, but I couldn't see what type, looking out for more. Very hot today buddleia not opened yet. Garden birds quiet it was too hot for them.

butterflies, I havn't seen any this year slight_frown

Rescued a big buzzy BEE today ... yesterday it was in my kitchen & I just could not get it to go outside ... today heard some buzzing near the sink - BEE was in the plug hole & I had just rinsed out a glass with cold water ... slight_frown ... wrapped BEE in some kitchen paper then gently put him on some wildflowers in my yard ... hope he dries out before the likely storm comes

Looks like some of the bees in our hotel have finally decided to make an appearance...
The hotel is above a storage unit, and there was something on it on Saturday when I was outside. A closer inspection revealed them to be parts of leaves, and some of the previously blocked tubes are now empty (or mostly).
How do you clean the used tubes @TallTrees? Do I need specialist equipment?

Hi @gmarkj

Good to hear that the insects came out of your "hotel"

at last.  The ones I didn't know what they were have also

come out ~ I didn't see what they were though!

If you tell me what your tubes are made of?

Mine are cardboard with a paper lining after taking  my bees out in October

I throw away the paper lining.

Other tubes are of bamboo or something like that.  So I would image you

could clean/ poke them out to clean them through, then give them a wash and

dry them ready to put out next year?

Thanks for the update ~

Yes they are bamboo.
Will give them a poke with something when I get a chance - am juggling work with painting furniture at the minute so not much spare ("free"?!?) time...
