I was considering buying a spare lightning cable so that I can charge my phone at work.  When I looked on the Apple site I came across the perfect thing - a keychain.

It looks great and ideal, however when I have read reviews online, I have found that, although it is useful, people are saying that it is not worth the money.

It is not an Apple product and therefore it is not covered by the usual Apple warranty so that puts me off it a bit.

Does anyone have one of these? Or can you recommend anything similar?

Why wouldn't they?
There's no point having an approval programme if they don't honour any warranty issue caused by an approved accessory!

How would they know anyway that's like saying you wouldn't use Duracell batteries in a sony tv remote because it might void the warranty rubbish

I agree @MI5 but as you can see the advice given to Adam is contradicted by advice given to me from the same source.

This being the case I could only at this point suggest using Apple Original Accessories to @gemz4the1

If apple sell a product on their website and in their stores that's made by a third party and that damages your phone they can't get out of it they sold it to you a cable is a cable

Because @Anonymous with a low cost TV remote a person is less likely to claim on warranty.

For a £500+ device Apple will IMO more likely run diagnostics on the phone and cable / charger that's being claimed caused the phone to be fried.

Think you are on your own here bob with your interpretation. Apple will stand by any fault caused by an approved accessory. How could they not if they approved it in the first place?
