Ciao a tutti,

I've shared with you a while ago that I was going to be away for a few days and hinted the whereabouts of my destination here.

On that topic, @Mi-Amigo replied saying that if I took some pictures, I should be sharing them on the community, to which I promptly agreed. @Comben was also interested to hear about it. And unfortunately, @BobM, Pink Floyd wasn't there indeed, but there was a very interesting exhibition of posters and info about the concert in the corridors of the Roman amphitheatre (which was closed when I visited the archeological site, though ๐Ÿ˜ž

So following the tips I gathered on the Travel Tips topic by @Pipstop78 and on the Summer heatwave tips and tricks topic by @Martin-O2, off I went to Italy!

Pompeii really is an impressive locale,  I will leave you with some of the pics I've taken:

Hope you all like them ๐Ÿ˜Š

Have any of you ever been there or want to go? Let me know in the comments below.

It looks stunning Rafa, I've been to Italy (Milan) but not to Pompeii but Italy is somewhere I'd love to go back to at some point.

Thanks for sharing lots of pictures, which must have taken a while to edit and upload, its really appreciated. Did you have a lovely time and was there any reason you wanted to go?

Thanks for sharing the photos @RafaC, hope you had a great time. Love Italy and been to a few places, but never to Pompeii. Defo on the bucket list, along with Sicily ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

Thanks @Mi-Amigo ๐Ÿ˜€!

First time in Italy for me @Comben, already want to get back! Milan is definitely on my list, did you like it?

Pompeii caught up my imagination as a young lad when I read about it at school and then, as a teenager, I watched the Pink Floyd gig and that blew my mind. On top of that, I've also been to Napoli, which is a city I've always wanted to visit as well, since my great-grandmother from my father's side was from there.

@J9el thanks! Nice to know you love Italy and also want to go back, Sicily must be a very interesting place, I never read much about it to be honest, any particular reason you want to go there?

Milan is stunning, the architecture is so beautiful and the history and culture seems to spillover to the streets. You do have to keep you wits about you though because similar to lots of big cities there are pickpockets and scammers preying on tourists. (I personally had to pay โ‚ฌ20 to have a photograph taken that I didnโ€™t want but felt threatened into)

Iโ€™m so pleased you were able to go to  Pompeii and fulfil your childhood dream, thats so cool and it looks like you enjoyed it. Also itโ€™s always nice to trace back family and visit your roots so getting to Napoli makes sense too. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

@Comben

My grandson was told he needed to take some holiday and he chose 5 days in Milan. Very cheap, with Ryanair. He flew from Stansted > Milan (arrived back last night.)  He loved it. but said it was overly hot (about 42c)

The flight back was a bit of a nightmare. Milan to Dublin> Dublin > Birmingham. Every flight was late.  He was supposed to land back in BHX at 23.55 but he was  stuck on the plane for 90 mins on the runway in Dublin. Eventually they were home at 02.15. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Oh dear thatโ€™s a series of unfortunate events. Iโ€™m glad they liked Milan although the heatwave must have been insane! โ˜€๏ธ Also Milan seems to have some sort of curse first to me and now to your grandson. Great place but watch out for something to happen. ๐Ÿ˜‚
