Good luck to them. A brilliant idea. The amount of food we throw out is appalling really.

What we waste is a very, very small percentage of what supermarkets waste

All supermarkets here send past sell by date food to the homeless shelters. However, go into a local small shop and you have to be very careful buying milk and vegetables etc. They tend to throw water over the fruit to keep it fresh looking but the water is iffy to start with!

What a great idea! Hopefully it becomes the norm for how all food outlets handle unused produce.
